CQ Earlies: Roman Leicester

13 July 2024

Leicester’s FREE monthly creative family festival Cultural Quarter Earlies is back on Saturday July 13th!

As part of the Festival of Archaeology there’ll be activities in venues across Leicester’s Cultural Quarter including LCB Depot, Phoenix, Two Queens and Leicester Print Workshop.

This month at LCB Depot, we’ll be dressing up in Roman Fashion, joining a Roman Legion, becoming Roman engineers (building an aqueduct across the courtyard!), Making Roman sculptures, handling real roman remains with University of Leicester archaeologists… and more! (🔎 PLUS Explore the Ocean with Olivier Leger in his amazing exhibition)

At Curve you can play an archaeologist and explore some of Leicester’s Romans Stories! 12pm, 1.30pm, 3pm (guarantee your spot via the link below)

At Phoenix you can make Roman armour with Kala Arts. PLUS see screenings of Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans ASC Friendly screening at 11:30 and a regular afternoon screening at 15:15. All tickets £3.

At Two Queens you can make Roman pots!

And at Leicester Print Workshop Kamihanga lion gladiators!

As usual there’s delicious food from Grays and free Roman Rickshaw rides between venues!

This event is in collaboration with the University of Leicester Heritage Hub and the Friends of the Jewry Wall Museum.

Activities are FREE and drop in but if you can book a free ticket so we’ve got an idea of numbers that would be great: https://linktr.ee/culturalquarterearlies
