This month we’re highlighting fashion including textile, contour, footwear design.

Exhibitions and events will be online via social media and in the real world through our on street gallery.

For fashion revolution week this year we’ll be hosting a number of events including

Thu Apr 22nd 10am-12pm: Rethinking Fashion Design Entrepreneurship: Fostering Sustainable Practices. This research investigated creative practice in design-led fashion micro and small enterprises (MSEs) as a potential driver for change towards a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. Prof Claudia Eckert and Dr Philippa Crommentuijn-Marsh of the Open University will be talking about this research and will be sharing some of the findings. Free. Sat Apr 24th, 2pm – From T-shirt to Plant Hanger, upcycling with Emma from JUP, £20. Find out more and register via eventbrite

Sun Apr 25th 2pm – Altered Couture: Upcycle with Embroidery Learn how to customise and upcycle your clothes by stitching new life into them. With Alison Carpenter-Hughes. £20 Find out more and register via eventbrite

Apr 28th 10am Creative Coffee, online talks from creatives + networking. This month artist & weaver Sarah May Johnson and Freya & Sarah from Crafty Sew & So, Free. Register here

May 7th 12pm Clothing Durability Dozen: toolkit launch, Join NTU to learn about their new toolkit, a resource designed to enable clothing companies to recognise, map out and celebrate what they are already doing to make quality clothes that last for longer, and build on these to develop innovative approaches to clothing durability that are tailored to each company’s requirements.
