This exhibition 26 Feb-8 March presents work by students of Footwear, Contour Design, Textiles and Fashion Design from De Montfort University (DMU).
‘Fashion and Textile Design at DMU has an extensive focus on practice, which stems from the manufacturing heritage of Leicester. Students of Fashion, contour, Textiles and Footwear study traditional techniques of tailoring, corsetry, screen printing, embroidery and shoe making alongside contemporary innovations.
Reinvention of Tradition presents a collection of final year and graduate work which demonstrates a fashion forward re-working of traditional techniques. demonstrating our ethos of collaboration and sustainable development, the exhibition has been designed by second year Interior Design students to provide a curated journey of the Fashion and Textile specialisms taught at DMU.’
On show in our Lightbox gallery and in display areas on the ground floor of our B Block building and next to our Print Room facing Rutland Street.
