The Cultural eXchanges Festival is held annually by De Montfort University’s Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities and run by third year Arts and Festivals Management BA (Hons) students. A festival of ideas, insight and inspiration, Cultural eXchanges features a variety of guest speakers. LCB Depot will be hosting many of Leicester’s independent thinking and discussion groups including PubHD, Philosophy in Pubs, The Art of Thinking, and Leicester People’s University.

A monthly event where 3 local researchers explain their PhD/MSc/Postdoc in a local pub. Jargon-free for all to understand.

Wednesday February 28th: Philosophy in Pubs 7.30pm
A regular member picks a fresh stimulus every month and the discussion starts from there. Open to anyone who is willing to listen to others, and to share their thoughts and ideas. You do not need to have studied philosophy to come to this group (most of us haven’t!).

Saturday March 3rd: Leicester People’s University 1.30 – 5.30pm
LPU aims to retain the intellectual rigour of higher education and create an environment that fosters critical thinking whilst remaining inclusive and accessible to all. We meet on the first Saturday of most months (in term time)
Entitled ‘What is money?’ and facilitated by Tony O’Tierney, this session will explore the roles money – this at once illusionary and all too real medium, plays in society, with special reference to its political nature.
