Joseph James Carpentry

Created in 2016 with the aim to create vibrant woodwork art and furniture with an eco friendly ethos. We developed unique craft methods using upcycled materials to create original and bespoke pieces. Our works were sold at market places across the Midlands and online to a wider demographic of customers, with pieces ranging from large dining tables and desks to wall art and shelving.

In 2017, we featured as an Etsy top seller and received coverage in international advertising for the marketplace. During this time, I also began working with many prominent interior design specialists and influencers, creating projects and pieces used locally and across the world. Some of these projects included apartment revamps as far away as Hollywood, individual pieces for Europe’s largest tattoo convention, to garden spaces in local Wetherspoons.

In 2019 we were featured in two viral videos with Amazon Handmade and the BBC, collectively receiving over 3 million views. These focussed on both a new collection of work and the challenges of running a small business whilst being the primary carer for an elderly loved one.

Going into 2020, the demands of being a carer during a pandemic slowly begin to bring the business to a standstill until the difficult decision was made to take a hiatus. Following the passing of my Grandma, we went travelling (following through a promise I had made to her) and since our return have been developing designs using inspiration from our travels and preparing the business for an exciting relaunch.
