Spark Arts Festival for children 0-13 years takes over LCB Depot to bring an amazing funfair of creativity to all you budding artists and makers. Experiment and invent with crafts and new technologies, then show off your creations in the special exhibition zone.
From making your own video game and building in Minecraft to DIY photography and print making, there are loads of brilliant activities to try.
All activities are free and you can drop in anytime, but with so much to see and do, the earlier you arrive, the more you’ll have to show off.
Organised by Phoenix, LCB Depot and The Spark, activities are made possible by Leicester Print Workshop, LoFi Photography, Phoenix Interact Labs, The Mighty Creatives, Sidefest and more.
Activities:
Explore the analogue world of pin-hole photography with Leicester Lo-Fi. Construct your own camera or use one of ours to capture the magic of light.
Come and add to our Minecraft sculpture garden and show off your amazing building skills. Made possilbe with help from Sidefest and The Mighty Creatives
Have fun making electrical circuits with LEDs, batteries and other components and help us build our very own light installation. There will be a range of activities for all age ranges (5+) and levels of experience. There is a free mini LED torch and light stick for attendees (supplies are limited, so first come first served!). Come along to Leicester Print Workshop’s Pop Up shop where children of all ages (including adults) can have a go at printmaking. Working with local artists you will make your own work and add to a communal print where everyone makes a mark.
Step into the virtual world of Pop Up Play to explore and create an array of adventures, using a brand new programme that immerses the player in a mixed reality world. Take a dip with a shark. Sail the highest tides on a pirate ship. Shrink into your own small world. Rise to the challenge of our amazing mazes.
Join in a 45 minute session to make your very own stopmotion animation – using professional puppets and sets, kids can film their very own animation which they can take home with them. From Healthy Teeth Happy Smiles Animation. Make sure you sign up as places are limited.
Children aged under 13 should be accompanied by an adult when attending this event.
